Terms of Service

The plain-English agreement between you and californiaesaletter.org.

Last updated: June 10, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By using californiaesaletter.org or booking an appointment, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. Our service

We facilitate telehealth evaluations between clients and independent, licensed California mental health professionals for the purpose of assessing the clinical appropriateness of an emotional support animal (ESA) or psychiatric service dog (PSD). Letters are issued solely at the professional judgment of the evaluating clinician.

3. No guarantee of a letter

Payment purchases a professional evaluation โ€” not a letter. If the clinician determines an ESA or PSD is not clinically appropriate, no letter will be issued and the evaluation fee will be refunded as described in Section 6.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, reside in California (or be evaluated by a clinician licensed in your state where applicable), and provide accurate, truthful information during intake and evaluation.

5. Appointments & conduct

6. Payments & refunds

7. Proper use of letters

Letters are issued for lawful use under the Fair Housing Act, FEHA, and applicable regulations. You may not alter, forge, resell, or misrepresent any letter. Misrepresenting an animal as a service animal may carry legal penalties in California.

8. Not emergency or treatment services

Our evaluations are not therapy, ongoing treatment, or emergency care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.

9. Intellectual property

All site content, branding, and design are the property of californiaesaletter.org and may not be reproduced without permission.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, californiaesaletter.org is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the site or services, including third-party decisions made by landlords, airlines, or other parties.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of California.

12. Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Questions: contact@californiaesaletter.org.
