Terms of Service
The plain-English agreement between you and californiaesaletter.org.
Last updated: June 10, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By using californiaesaletter.org or booking an appointment, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Our service
We facilitate telehealth evaluations between clients and independent, licensed California mental health professionals for the purpose of assessing the clinical appropriateness of an emotional support animal (ESA) or psychiatric service dog (PSD). Letters are issued solely at the professional judgment of the evaluating clinician.
3. No guarantee of a letter
Payment purchases a professional evaluation โ not a letter. If the clinician determines an ESA or PSD is not clinically appropriate, no letter will be issued and the evaluation fee will be refunded as described in Section 6.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, reside in California (or be evaluated by a clinician licensed in your state where applicable), and provide accurate, truthful information during intake and evaluation.
5. Appointments & conduct
- Appointments are available Mon โ Sun, 7 am โ 11 pm; booking is available 24 hours.
- Please attend on time. Missed appointments without notice may incur a rescheduling step.
- Providing false information to obtain a letter may result in denial of service without refund and may violate California law.
6. Payments & refunds
- Fees are listed on our pricing page and are charged at booking.
- Full refund if our clinician determines a letter is not clinically appropriate.
- Full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before your appointment.
- No refund once a letter has been issued, except as required by law.
7. Proper use of letters
Letters are issued for lawful use under the Fair Housing Act, FEHA, and applicable regulations. You may not alter, forge, resell, or misrepresent any letter. Misrepresenting an animal as a service animal may carry legal penalties in California.
8. Not emergency or treatment services
Our evaluations are not therapy, ongoing treatment, or emergency care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.
